Hello Yarnies541, August is here! We’re so happy the air has cleared in our area after all the heat and smoke from last week.
Lane County Fair was a hit and we had a great time with a public sit-n-stitch in the textiles area at the fair on Friday. Yarnies541 members really showed up for the fair this year! We had so many really, really great entries and a whole lot of ribbon winners! the brains and skill represented in this club is amazing! It’s always such a treat to see what everyone has come up with for the different divisions. Head over to the Yarnies541 Discord to see winning submissions!
Now that the Lane County Fair is over, that means it’s time to get ready for the second annual Yarnies541 UNfair! We are once again hosting the UNfair at Stringfield Yarn Collective from September 4th through the 18th. To be clear, the UNfair really is unfair*. Lots of shenanigans will ensue.
2026 UNfair rules:
- Folks can enter ONE item (due to space constraints).
- Submissions cannot be a ribbon winners from previous county fairs or
- Items cannot have been submitted to prior Yarnies541 un-fair.
- Items must be fiber art/craft and crafted by the individual submitting them.
- Entries are open to the community (age 18+), you do NOT need to be a paid-tier member to participate.
If you submitted items to the Lane County Fair that did not get a ribbon, or ran out of time to submit to the county fair, or you have something you’re really proud of, this is your chance to submit your creations to the UNfair! Items will be displayed in the shop during Springfield’s Art Walk on September 11th and folks will be able to purchase tickets to vote for their favorite items with proceeds going toward a community cause (exact organization to be determined). Submissions drop-off: Aug 19th-Sept. 3rd. We will need your first name, email and phone number for submissions. Stringfield Yarn Collective is located at 175 S. 5th St. in Springfield. Hours and location here: www.stringfieldyarncollective.com You can pickup your submissions Sept 19-26th. Winners of the UNfair will get bragging rights and our undying regard for their skills!
*This is not necessarily a talent or skill competition, but instead is a very fun, show-off and show out good time, for a good cause!
