May is really HERE Yarnies!
We’ve been seeing lighter weight fibers on the hooks and needles at the meetups and many warm weather projects. The sun has been greeting us at the meetups as well! A big change from the pouring rain and puddles from just a few weeks ago!
Important meetup update: We are changing our Tuesday 5:30 meetup space for the season, beginning this week, to the Ninkasi tasting room patio located at 272 Van Buren in Eugene. Just a few blocks from Oakshire Brewing where we have been meeting. This is a large, shaded patio that many of you will remember from last summer. Outside food is welcome, there are many options nearby for food carts, or bring your own from home or anywhere!
Thursday meetups will continue to be at Oakshire Commons in Springfield (416 Main St.) 5:30-ish.
Yarnies541 Business meeting Sunday, May 17th, 5:30pm at Stringfield Yarn Collective (175 South 5th St. in Springfield).
Upcoming happenings to find Yarnies541 in the wild:
1: NAMI walk: Saturday, May 16th 10am-2pm.
Island Park, 200 West B Street in Springfield. This is an important event, close to the heart of Yarnies541 board member Laura (the dyer behind Always Be Kind Yarn). If you would like to walk with or support the team Laura has put together, please click HERE
You can find more general info about the NAMI walk HERE
Yarnies541 is joining Always Be Kind Yarn and the Sage Casey Foundation (via Stringfield) to table at the NAMI walk event. We’ll be handing out general information and MEEPS/Pocket Hugs and talking to folks about suicide prevention and mental health support. Swing by and say hello, join the event, or just hang out in the park in the nice weather. You know, for your mental health!
2: Yarnies541 is hosting a meep competition! Whoever makes the most Meeps to donate to the NAMI event will receive a gift certificate to Always Be Kind Yarn AND a gift basket from Stringfield Yarn Collective & Yarnies541.
