How has it been a month already?!? Hello Yarnies541 community!

Gearing up for our “back to business” season, Yarnies541 business meetings will resume on the Second Sundays of the month beginning September 14th from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Last Sunday, August 17th, some of us had a great time getting to know the dyeing duo from Cesium Yarn. Penny and Kat were engaging and welcoming, answering all of our questions and regaling us with stories about their adventures in chemistry and yarn. AND they have a YARN TRUCK! We are crossing our fingers that they may make a trip from Virginia to Oregon in their Yarn Truck in the future! Find them online at www.cesiumyarn.com

Tuesday Meetup this week will be at Wheel Apizza! August 26th from 530-730pm. Wheel Apizza has some delicious pizzas and a vast array of beer on tap and house made sodas. And most importantly, they have AC! See you there! Wheel Apizza Pub is located at 390 Lincoln St. #101 in Eugene.

Upcoming events:

Wednesday night! One of our own Yanies541 members is hosting a chocolate indulgence event at her boutique! August 27th, 6:15pm-8pm at Ebb & Flow Boutique. Get your tickets here, limited spots! http://www.ebbandflowboutique.com/

This weekend!

Ewethful Fiber Farm open mill shop Saturday, August 30th from 11am-3pm. Located at 891 W. 1st St in Halsey. One of our favorite, sweetest shops that has very limited hours as it is a working fiber mill! A very welcoming stitching/spinning circle and a very sweet shop kitty “Wish” round out the laid back vibe here.

The “Un”Fair is happening soon! A new event Yarnies541 is hosting at Stringfield Yarn Collective from September 5th-12th. If you submitted items to the Lane County Fair that somehow did NOT win a ribbon, this is your chance to submit them to the UNfair! Items will be displayed in the shop through Springfield’s Art Walk on September 12th and folks will be invited to purchase tickets to submit as a vote for their favorite items with proceeds going toward a community cause (exact organization yet to be determined).

Unfair submissions will be able to be dropped off at Stringfield beginning Monday, September 1st during business hours. We will need your first name, email and phone number for submissions. Stringfield Yarn Collective is located at 175 S. 5th St. in Springfield. Hours here: www.stringfieldyarncollective.com Winners of the UNfair will get bragging rights and our undying regard for their skills!

Unrelated to the UNfair, Stringfield is opening up space during the Springfield Art Walk for Yarnies541 members that won ribbons at the Lane County Fair, Mo wants to show off the art you created! If you would like your ribbon-winning fiber creation displayed, please drop it off to Stringfield by Wednesday, September 10th.

Springfield Block Party is happening on Friday, September 5th held on Main Street in downtown Springfield from 4pm-10pm. With loads of all ages activities, food, beverages, and booths to peruse to learn about interesting things, purchase fun stuff, mingle and have a good time in the community. Stringfield Yarn Collective will have a booth and is hosting Yarnies541 there! Mark your calendars and come check it out!

Eugene Textile Center is hosting a trunk show of Japanese Textiles with John Marshall on Friday, September 5th from 5pm-7:30pm. ETC specifically mentions his metallic yarns in their newsletter and they look very interesting! ETC is located at 2750 Roosevelt Blvd in Eugene.

Fashion Clownette is once again hosting their Hello Handcraft Hangout on September 27th from 11am-3pm at the Eugene Garden Club: 1645 High St. in Eugene. This is a FREE event. From the Fashion Clownette newsletter: “Come hang out at the Eugene Garden Club for a crafty social meet-up & potluck! Whatever portable handwork you fancy, come do it with friends! Crochet, knit, cross-stitch, needlepoint, embroidery, beading, drawing, scrapbooking, or ANY other crafty thing! If you aren’t working on a project right now, just bring yourself or bring something to show & tell! This is also a potluck brunch, so bring your favorite food or drink item to share — meet new people and say hello while you handcraft and hangout!” Learn more about Fashion Clownette’s sewing/costume academy at www.fashionclownette.com Run by Axel Dazee, the costume shop manager/costume designer for the Eugene Ballet (among many other very cool things!)
