Late March update

Hello Yarnies! Hopping on real quick to give a reminder for some upcoming events. I hear from our members every day about the importance of community and connection. Glad you’re here! We hope you stay connected and keep creating with us.

First: this year’s Yarnies541 group theme for the Lane County Fair is SNAILS! We’ve been perusing snail patterns and there are some really fun patterns out there! Like we did last year with the chickens, we’ll do this year with snails. Size is whatever you want: teeny tiny to giant! As Lane County Fair gets closer, we’ll push out info for entering your fiber art creations. You are not limited to snails, please enter whatever lovely items you wish. Our group chooses a theme project to add some whimsy and large quantity effect to the fair displays and raise awareness about our Yarnies541 community. So fun!

Ewethful Fiber Farm open shop day is this Saturday, March 29th from noon-3. Celebrating owner Kim’s birthday this month! Drop by this sweet shop in Halsey if you can, the table is usually full of very nice folks making lovely things! And be sure to say hello to Wish, the adorable shop kitty.

Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon Saturday, April 5th! We’ve decided to do a “progressive meetup” (think “progressive dinner” but you don’t have to make anything!) to observe 2025 Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon this year. Members of Yarnies541 will be hanging out for a couple hours in the following locations, crafting and with QR codes to allow folks to donate directly to Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon 2025. Schedule is as follows:

Saturday, April 5th

9:30am-11:30am Great Harvest Bread Co. 2605 Willamette St. Eugene

11:30-1:30pm Friendly Garden 2760 Friendly St. Eugene

1:30pm-3:30pm Community Cup 901 Pearl St. Eugene

3:30pm-5:30pm Public House 418 A St. Springfield

*Stay tuned for a possible addition to the evening…

We thought we would try this style of participation so folks could join up as they wanted, connect with other crafters, and learn about Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon in person. Join us as your day allows!

If you want to keep things hyper local, click this link to donate to Food for Lane County: https://www.foodforlanecounty.org/ this is not affiliated with the Knit-A-Thon international fundraiser, and food for people is important! Give as you see fit!

Does the majority of Yarnie-ites live in Eugene or Springfield?

Great question! Likely Eugene would be my guess as it is larger. We could take a poll one of these days.

Yarn in Public Day or World-Wide Knitting In Public Day as it is known internationally, is scheduled for a Yarnies meet-up in Springfield. Was there a problem with the 5th Street, Eugene location which seemed to go so well last year?

No, no problem. It was a good venue. We decided to do something a little different this year. Certainly folks can meetup anywhere they want. As you know, we all enjoy our crafting in public every day, not just once a year!
