We’ve made it through what felt like 794 days of January. With a deep, heartfelt breath and the squeeziest digital hug: Happy February Y’all! The weather is proving difficult to predict, so please keep an eye on our socials and the Yarnies541 calendar for updates about cancellations, etc. 

We’ve had many new faces at our meetups and on Discord, WELCOME! We are thrilled to have you here!

The Fashion Clownette “Hello Handcraft Hangout” last weekend was fun, so great to meet new folks out in the community doing cool art and crafting together. Can’t wait for the next one!

Upcoming events:

Yarnies541 Tuesday meetup- 5:30 pm February 4th, weather permitting, at Whirled Pies (199 W. 8th in Eugene). Please join us! Food is available for purchase at the venue if you want to grab dinner, although there is no obligation to purchase anything. We want you to come hang out and craft with us!

Yarnies541 February Birthday meetup is 5:30 pm Tuesday, February 11th at Roaring Rapids Pizza Company (4006 Franklin Blvd. in Eugene). Join us to celebrate Yarnies541 February birthdays! Cake provided and food available for purchase at venue. Members with a February birthday will be entered to win one of Mindy’s Birthday gnomes AND there will be a raffle for a Valentine’s gnome! These are super cute, THANK YOU so much Mindy for doing this and bringing some ultra cuteness to our birthday celebrations this year!

PALENTINE’S DAY, Thursday, February 13th: a time to celebrate Friendships and our connection to community! There’s a good chance we will have a meetup somewhere Thursday night to enjoy each other’s company and appreciate the community we are building. Upstairs at Market of Choice on Willamette is looking like a good contender right now. Other ideas? Let us know!

Next Yarnies541 business meeting is 5pm Sunday, February 16th (also a holiday weekend). At Growers Market (454 Willamette St. Eugene. See Yarnies541.org for more info about the space). 

Looking forward in the year: 

April 5th is Knit-for-food Knit-a-thon (craft-a-thon, we welcome all fiber crafts). We will be talking about this more at our business meeting to coordinate participation and maximize our impact. 

June 14th is World Wide Knit in Public day. Yarnies541 is rebranding for our local event: Yarn in Public (YIP) Day to include knitting, crochet, spinning, macrame, or whatever you are crafting with yarn! So mark your calendars and bring your WIPs to YIP! We are working on a spot in Springfield at the library fountain area and hope to have it confirmed later this week. We will likely be in Eugene at the 5th Street Alley again also. 

Update on a new LYS: there is work happening at Stringfield Yarn Collective! Forecasting for an early March opening. We are SUPER excited and will keep you updated as news rolls in!

In case you were wondering, YES! WE ALWAYS WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU’RE WORKING ON! We all benefit when beautiful crafts come through our feed either on discord, the socials, or in real life! So please don’t be shy to share!
