Yarnies! First, a giant THANK YOU to everyone that made it out to The Big Fleece last night. We had a really great time!

I am reminded over and over again that community connection is how we survive and thrive in the world. This community is incredible and it is such an honor to be building it together with all of you! Thank you all for being part of this remarkable group. 

Our Discord is hopping with lots of sharing and ideas, and is the best place for up to the minute info for meetups, happenings, fun stuff, etc. Please check it out as there is always something going on there: Yarnies541 Discord and a real big shout out to Olivia for setting up, handling, moderating, and knowing how to manage the Discord channel, it has been an incredible platform for Yarnies541!

Our quarterly donation focus January-March will be going toward local domestic violence/sexual assault support services: Hope and Safety Alliance and Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS Lane County). More info coming for fundraising opportunities. For now, we have an infographic with information about local and national support services available on our Ko-Fi page https://ko-fi.com/yarnies541 (look under “shop”). It’s not fancy, but it’s a way to donate and the information could help save lives. Donations begin at $5. Proceeds from this sale (after processing fees, which we do not control) are split 60/40 with 60% going to the social service/community organization of the quarter, and 40% going to Yarnies541 for operating expenses, promotion, merch, etc. Ko-Fi accepts PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Cash App, credit/debit, etc.

FREE! Inspired by some of our members and others on social media, Yarnies541 has a FREE digital download for a 2025 Bingo card: fill out your own Bingo card with things you want to accomplish this year and as you attain Bingos, give yourself a little treat, brag about it, be proud of yourself! Look under “shop” on our Ko-Fi page for the Bingo card. It’s free, so put $0 in the “how much would you like to pay” section. Yarnies541 Tuesday meetup 5:30 pm January 21st at Whirled Pies (199 W. 8th in Eugene). Please join us! Food is available for purchase at the venue if you want to grab dinner, although there is no obligation to purchase anything. We want you to come hang out and craft with us!

Fashion Clownette is hosting the Hello Handcraft Hangout on Saturday, January 25th from 6pm-10pm at the Eugene Garden Club (1645 High St. in Eugene). Some of us went to the last Hello Handcraft Hangout and it was really great to meet other crafters in the area and hear about what else is happening in our larger craft community! Yarnies541 February Birthday meetup is Tuesday, February 11th at Roaring Rapids Pizza Company (4006 Franklin Blvd. in Eugene) 5:30 pm. Join us to celebrate Yarnies541 February birthdays! Cake provided and food available for purchase at venue, although there is no obligation to purchase anything. We want you to come hang out and craft with us!

PALENTINE’S DAY, Thursday, February 13th: a time to celebrate Friendships and our connection to community! There’s a good chance we will have a meetup somewhere Thursday night to enjoy each other’s company and appreciate the community we are building. More info coming as we formulate plans.

Next Yarnies541 business meeting is 5pm February 17th (also a holiday weekend). Location TBD. 

Lastly, looking forward in the year: June 14th is World Wide Knit in Public day. Yarnies541 have renamed it Yarn in Public (YIP) Day to include knitting, crochet, spinning, macrame, or whatever it is you are crafting with yarn! So mark your calendars and bring your WIPs to YIP! Locations TBD.
