Happy Halloween Eve!

First things first:

SNAP benefits are not being disbursed beginning November 1st due to the federal shutdown. This will have a huge impact on our community, including members of our club.  Some local resources, should you need them: www.foodforlanecounty.org and https://burritobrigade.org for lists of free meal sites, free little pantries, food boxes, etc. As other resources are compiled, we will add them to our website under the Community Care & Local+ Mutual Aid tab.

These organizations also need as much help as possible right now, as the need is extreme. If you are able, please consider volunteering or donating funds to these vital community services. Both organizations can effectively multiply the purchasing power and value of each dollar donated to provide the most service and care possible.

November 8th ans 22nd: Common Cause Oregon is promoting “knitting in protest” in Portland this month in response to federal troop deployment in the area. Here is what they say about this event: “Resist with every fiber of your being! Join us outside of the Portland Farmers Market at PSU for a peaceful protest against federal troop deployment. Please bring your camping chair and either your knitting supplies or another hobby you’d like to work on while we sit in protest of this most recent authoritarian move by the Trump administration.” Click here to learn more: https://www.commoncause.org/oregon/actions/knitting-in-protest-of-federal-troops-being-deployed-to-portland/

November 14-16th in Portland is the Sacred Sheep marketplace and maker community event. Tickets for Saturday 2pm entry and Sunday 10am and Noon entry still available. Learn more at www.thesacredsheep.com

Last but not least….SAVE THE DATE! Our 3rd annual THE BIG FLEECE is happening on January 17th!

If you are a current paid-tier member, your 2025 paid membership includes a ticket to this fun event. Sliding scale tickets to this event will be sold starting at $5. Scope out your stash for something to bring for swapping* as well as a yummy potluck dish you may want to share. The fundraising focus for The Big Fleece 2026 is currently being decided as the evolving landscape in our community may mean we change focus for this event.

*swap gifts must come from stash (NOT purchased for this event) and be fiber craft related. Swap gifts DO NOT have to be full skeins! Swap gifts can be many things! Partial skeins, a whole bag of scraps for a great scrap project, books, patterns, tools and notions, etc. even a project on the needles/hook that you no longer want to finish. The possibilities are vast!

This is a great way to pass along once loved (or not!) stash, send it to a new home, and have many laughs in the process.

As always, Thank you for building this great community! Please consider supporting our local businesses that support our club: cozy-yarn.com and stringfieldyarncollective.com as well as ebbandflowboutique.com and www.alwaysbekindyarn.com

Please check out our calendar on the main page of the website www.Yarnies541.org for recurring events. And please, as always, email or comment about events we may have missed! Or post them on the Yarnies541 Discord: https://discord.com/invite/6RHfvR4vTh
