20th Anniversary WORLD WIDE KNIT IN PUBLIC DAY!

Join us as you can for World Wide Knit in Public Day, June 14th 2025. WWKIP day is the second Saturday of June each year. Started in 2005 by Danielle Landes, it began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. WWKIP day is often a time when groups of knitter’s that rarely interact with each other come together to build community in a distinct and public way. Yarnies541 WELCOMES ALL FIBER CRAFTERS: knitting, spinning, crochet, embroidery, etc. This is why we chose the title “Yarn In Public Day” for this event.

Bring a camp chair if you can (there is other seating available on benches and steps also) and join us just 2 blocks north of Stringfield Yarn Collective at the Springfield City Hall Plaza (Library fountain steps) from 10-4. There are many food and beverage options literally steps away at Public House and in the revived downtown Springfield area. Parking in Springfield is free.

We recognize this weekend is very full with UO graduation, the Eugene Juneteenth Celebration, as well as the No Kings nationwide day of defiance protests. Join us if you are able, there are many, many ways to build and strengthen our communities together. And feel free to join us to re-set yourself and connect with even more community after the protest if you want.

In case you need this info, the Civil Liberties Defense Center is a great local resource to check out: https://cldc.org/ Stay hydrated and stay close to each other. Lean in to community, we need each other now more than ever.

Pride Night with the Eugene Emeralds: Tuesday June 17th 6:30 pm. You can purchase tickets through this link: LinktreeQueerEugene where 50% of the ticket cost will be donated to Queer Eugene! Tickets are approx $15.35 each.

Eugene PRIDE is June 28th this year. Yarnies541 is applying to table at this event being held at the Lane County Fairgrounds this year. For more Eugene PRIDE info click here: eugenepride.org

Make-A-Meep Days: on the second Sundays in the summer (June-August) we’ll be meeting up at Stringfield from 530-730pm to make “Meeps” for handing out at next year’s NAMI walk (www.namilane.org) For more about Meeps click here: www.allyoumeepislove.com You are always welcome to drop off any Meeps at Stringfield Yarn Collective throughout the year: 175 S. 5th in Springfield.

And I just received the following email: Entries for the 2025 Lane County Fair are officially OPEN! Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or trying something new this year, now’s your chance to showcase your skills, creativity, and passion.

From baking and photography to crafts, art, gardening, and more — there’s a category for everyone. Let your work be seen by thousands of fairgoers and celebrate the incredible talent that makes Lane County so special.
