Hey Yarnies541!
First, really quick: business meeting changes:
Beginning in April, business meetings will now be on the SECOND Sundays of the month and will be held at the Stringfield Yarn Collective space located at 175 S. 5th Street in Springfield, Oregon (right next to Meza Luna pizza in Springfield). Free street parking as well as free parking at the empty bank lot across the street from the shop. Just think, no more waiting for the door to unlock (or not) and no more double booking, and no more stairs!
The next business meeting is Sunday, April 13th at 5:30 pm. Bring your project to work on while we plan our year. We are working on some big exciting things!
RE: Tuesday meetups– Your feedback is helpful! Big thanks to Taylor for creating this poll! you can find it here: Tuesday meetups poll link
please only submit the meetup poll once per attendee, thanks!
Ewethful Fiber Farm open shop day is this Saturday, March 29th from noon-3. Celebrating owner Kim’s birthday this month! Drop by this sweet shop in Halsey if you can, the table is usually full of very nice folks making lovely things! And be sure to say hello to Wish, the adorable shop kitty. Located at 891 W. 1st St in Halsey.
Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon is coming up! Saturday, April 5th

From the KFF website:
“100% of the funds raised will be split equally between Meals on Wheels, World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, and Feeding America.
Now, more than ever, Knit for Food is NEEDED. The 4 organizations we are fundraising for are experiencing unprecedented uncertainty about their funding while the demand for the services they provide grows daily.”
For this year’s local event, we’ve decided to do a “progressive meetup” (think “progressive dinner” but you don’t have to make anything!) to observe Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon this year. Members of Yarnies541 will be hanging out for a couple hours in the following locations, crafting, and with QR codes to allow folks to donate directly to Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon 2025. Schedule is as follows:
Saturday, April 5th
9:30am-11:30am Great Harvest Bread Co. 2605 Willamette St. Eugene
11:30-1:30pm Friendly Garden 2760 Friendly St. Eugene
1:30pm-3:30pm Community Cup 901 Pearl St. Eugene (possible high traffic in the area due to protests this day. Join in if you want to! There are many ways to serve our community!)
3:30pm-5:30pm Public House 418 A St. Springfield
5:30pm-7pm Stringfield Yarn Collective 175 S. 5th Street in Springfield for chocolate!
We thought we would try this style of participation so folks could join up as they wanted, connect with other crafters, and learn about the Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon in person.
To learn more and give directly to the Knit-A-Thon as part of the Yarnies541 team, click here: https://givebutter.com/knitforfood25/yarnies541-1/Yarnies541
If you want to keep things hyper local, click this link to donate to Food for Lane County: https://www.foodforlanecounty.org/ this is not affiliated with the Knit-A-Thon international fundraiser, and food for people is important! Give as you see fit!
Saturday, April 26th is Local Yarn Store Day this year!!!! Cozy (285 E. 5th St. in Eugene) and Stringfield Yarn Collective (175 S. 5th in Springfield) will both be participating and will certainly have fun things going on at each location! Stringfield will likely have their grand opening the weekend of LYS day, so it is a very exciting time all around (stay tuned for information about dates for a “soft opening” a little sooner).
The Yarnies541 Discord group is active, and I am seeing some really cute snail patterns for the Lane county fair being shared. Pretty excited for future craft events!

Taylor at NeedleFox.Art sent me these absolute gems that really represent SPRING and our fiber craft community! This is the “Civitas Spiralis” she designed to celebrate the grand opening of Stringfield Yarn Collective in April. The yarn is from Laura (AlwaysBeKindYarn.com) who will be moving into a new dye space at Stringfield Yarn Collective in April also! Two very active Yarnies541 members! Thank you all so much!
Special thanks to both Cozy (www.cozy-yarn.com) and Stringfield Yarn Collective in their support of Yarnies541 and the fiber craft community in Lane County. And of course, all of you reading this that make it possible, THANK YOU.
