Hello and Happy Valentine’s day!

It was great to see folks celebrating February birthdays at Roaring Rapids on Tuesday! Mindy’s gnomes were super sweet and a real surprise to our winners!

Back to our regularly scheduled Tuesday meetup at Whirled Pies on Tuesday, February 18th around 5:30pm (199 W. 8th Ave in Eugene). They have been a very accomodating community meeting space for us. Food is available to purchase on site (no obligation, we want to spend time with you with or without pizza!).

If you’re around, and weather permits you to travel, Ewethful Fiber Mill in Halsey is having an open mill shop day on Saturday, February 15th from 11am-3pm. They are located at 891 W. 1st Street in Halsey, Oregon. Check out this sweet shop if you have a chance and get on their newsletter list for future mill shop days. Learn more at www.EwethfulFiberFarm.com I have noticed that they don’t advertise the open mill shop days on the website, it seems to be a strictly newsletter thing at this time.

Yarnies541 business meeting is 5pm this  Sunday, February 16th At Growers Market (454 Willamette St. Eugene. See Yarnies541.org for more info about the space). We will be discussing plans for the next few months and ideas for continued community building/community care. *Should the weather take a wild turn and we cancel the business meeting, that will be pushed out on all the socials as well as posted on the website/emailed like the newsletter and also updated on the Yarnies541 calendar.

Rose City Yarn Crawl in Portland, Oregon is rapidly approaching. 10 shops are on the roster this year, each offering a unique vibe. The crawl spans Thursday, March 6th through Sunday, March 9th. visit www.rosecityyarncrawl.com to learn more. For those interested in carpooling, there may be chatter about it on the Yarnies541 Discord. Should be really fun, last year we were able to meet Ceasar, the “no drama Llama” while waiting in line outside of Weird Sisters yarn shop. He was great! Looking forward to hearing about folks’ experiences this year.

Looking ahead in the year:

April 5th is Knit-for-food Knit-a-thon (craft-a-thon, we welcome all fiber crafts). Likely we will be talking about this more at our business meeting to coordinate participation and maximize our impact.

June 14th is World Wide Knit in Public day. Yarnies541 is rebranding for our local event:  Yarn in Public (YIP) Day to include knitting, crochet, spinning, macrame, or whatever you are crafting with yarn! So mark your calendars and bring your WIPs to YIP! We are working on a spot in Springfield at the library fountain area and hope to have it confirmed later this week. We will likely be in Eugene at the 5th Street Alley again also.

We are eagerly awaiting the opening of Stringfield Yarn Collective in Springfield soon, likely sometime in mid-March. Timeline subject to contractor project calendars of course. We will keep you updated on the progress! In the meantime, check out @StringfieldYarnCollective on instagram for updates as they come in.

Stay Toasty this weekend!
