Mid-January: Birthdays, Business, and The Big Fleece!

Hello Yarnies! Short mid-month update, we have some really fun stuff coming up this month!

2025 begins a new tradition of monthly Birthday celebrations! We’ll be recognizing our member Birthdays at our 2nd Tuesday of the month meetups. This month the Birthday meetup will be Tuesday, January 14th at Roaring Rapids Pizza Company, located at 4006 Franklin Blvd. in Eugene from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm. We’ll have cake! Food is available for purchase at the venue. Hope you can make it out to celebrate our Birthday Friends!

Yarnies541 business meeting Sunday, January 19th 5pm-6pm at Grower’s market (454 Willamette St. in Eugene). Business meeting is open to all members to attend. We’ll be voting on some board changes, discussing plans for the next year, and discussing where we want to focus our support this season.

Last but not least! THE BIG FLEECE is happening on Sunday, January 19th at 6pm at Growers Market again: 454 Willamette St. in Eugene directly following the business meeting! This is a fun, gift exchange (think white elephant style) with items FROM YOUR STASH only! Scope out your stash as you’re finishing your holiday crafts for something to bring for swapping (swap gifts must come from stash/be fiber craft related. Does NOT have to be full skeins! Swap gifts can be many things! Partial skeins, a whole bag of scraps for a great scrap project, books, patterns, tools and notions, etc. even a project on the needles/hook that you no longer want to finish. The possibilities are vast!). This is a great way to pass along once loved (or not!) stash, send it to a new home, and have many laughs in the process. This was a big hit last year and we’re really looking forward to it again!

The Big Fleece occurs on the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday weekend this year, so if you’re around, please wrap up some stash stuff and come hang out with us at 6pm on January 19th!
