Business meeting this Sunday, November 17th at 5pm. 

Location: Growers Market 454 Willamette St. in Eugene. 

Theme: “Side Quest” bring your favorite side dish to share! 

We are collecting non-perishable food for the food bank at this meeting. For more info visit https://www.foodforlanecounty.org/

List of most needed items:

• High-protein, shelf-stable foods such as canned meats and fish,
• nuts, peanut butter, jerky and lentils
• Low-sugar dried fruit, apple sauce and canned fruit without syrup
• Pasta, brown rice, cereal, corn meal, baking mixes and flour
• Breakfast foods such as cereal, oatmeal, granola, granola bars,
• protein bars, protein shakes and coffee
• Shelf-stable milk and milk alternatives such as oat milk, almond
• milk and soy milk
• Cooking oils, spices and condiments
• Masa, mole, chiles and other specialty spices
• Canned vegetables and beans
• Canned tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce
• Easily prepared or already prepared foods such as soups, chilis, stews and mac n cheese.

We also have the capacity to take cash and digital donations (HUGE thank you to Mo S. for the monetary support so we could set this up!). Financial donations will be split 80/20-Food Bank/Yarnies541. The food bank can make two meals for every $1 received! The remaining 20% will be used for Yarnies541 business including supplies, digital, promotional, and planning expenses, as well as future event scholarship funds.

Same as our Side Quest food drive/fundraiser, 80% of this year’s holiday gift bingo proceeds will go to Food for Lane County and remaining 20% goes toward Yarnies541 expenses. Holiday Gift BINGO runs from November 17th through January 3rd, winners drawn on January 4th, 2025.  

Holiday Gift BINGO is primarily a fun way to financially support local community care and give us all some friendly accountability to finish our holiday handmade gifts!

For each square you complete: Post a pic on the Yarnies541 Discord under “seasonal bingo” and/or TAG @YARNIES541 on Instagram (instagram is changing hashtag rules, so we have to be tagged for entries at this time) you can still use #Yarnies541GiftBingo2024 in your posts, but please tag us for entries.

While this inaugural bingo is geared toward traditional knitting/crochet holiday gift items, GIFTS DO NOT HAVE TO BE FIBER CRAFTS, any handmade gifts qualify!

Each BINGO gets you an entry into the drawing in January: horizontal, vertical, and diagonal bingos all count toward a Bingo. Complete the entire board (blackout bingo) for additional entry. There will be multiple prizes/drawings. Each Bingo participant will get a sticker and a custom stitch marker just for playing!

LASTLY- The Big Fleece (think “white elephant” holiday gift swap game) at our January 19th business meeting. Start eyeing your stash now for a gift to bring for swapping (swap gifts must come from stash/be fiber craft related. Does NOT have to be full skeins! Swap gifts can be many things! Partial skeins, a whole bag of scraps for a great scrap project, books, patterns, tools and notions, etc. even a project on the needles/hook that you no longer want to finish. The possibilities are vast!). This is a great way to pass along once loved (or not!) stash, send it to a new home, and have many laughs in the process. This was a big hit last year and we’re really looking forward to it again! More details to come.
