Fellow Yarnies! Here’s what’s up for this week:

FIRST! THANK YOU to all who came out for World Wide Knit and Crochet in Public Day at the 5th St. Market Alley! What a great time we had! Let’s brainstorm for next year and do it up even bigger!

Details for the following events are in the Yarnies541.org website event calendar link or click here: Yarnies541 calendar

Tuesday, June 11th Meetup at 5pm-ish: Owen Rose Garden 300 N. Jefferson St. in Eugene. Bring your own snacks/dinner and join us for our weekly meetup in this incredible weather. There are some great tables and benches in the park, but bring a lawn chair for the cement area or blankets for the grass if you have them in case we aren’t able to score as much space at the tables. Please consider carpooling if you can as parking can be tight (at least on the nice weekends, I don’t know about week nights). Hope to see you there!

Baseball interest has been high and there are some great promo nights coming up with the Eugene Emeralds this week. This week the Ems take on the Everett Aqua Sox at PK Park next to Autzen Stadium at 6:35 on Weeknights. PK Park is cashless, bring a card, not cash. Also, clear/see through bags are necessary. If you don’t have a clear project bag, I have seen some pretty inexpensive bags at Hiron’s for game days.

Thursday, June 13th at 6:35 pm is Pride Night! Presented by Nelson’s in the Whit is a night to celebrate the LGBTQIA community with a vibrant evening filled with music from DJ FastLayne of Bodacious Beats Inc and Soromundi Lesbian Chorus of Eugene. Sluggo’s jersey and specialty team store merch was designed by local LGBTQ artist, Trystan Weeks with a portion of the proceeds going back to Queer Eugene and Mount Pisgah Arboretum. It’s ALSO Thirsty Thursday™, Quench your thirst for savings at PK Park’s Thirsty Thursday™ deal, where you can snag $7 tickets and refreshing drinks for just $3, making it the perfect midweek escape. Get your tickets here: Thursday, June 13th Pride Night game

Friday, June 14th at 6:35 pm is Juneteenth Celebration! Celebrate freedom, unity, and heritage at PK Park as the Eugene Emeralds host a vibrant Juneteenth celebration. The Emeralds will also be wearing their specialty Nine jersey. The Nine is a Minor League Baseball activation launched in 2022 focused on honoring and celebrating the historic impact of the numerous Black baseball pioneers, Named for the number Jackie Robinson wore during his only season playing in MiLB with the Triple-A Montreal Royals in 1946, The Nine recognizes and honors numerous Black pioneers and trailblazing civil right leaders across all 120 MiLB communities. On the Emeralds’ Nine jerseys, The cream Eugene logo across the chest and the batter logo with notable Negro League stars numbers pay homage to the Negro Leagues. The bright colors on the sleeves and the jersey numbers represent Eugene’s Black community. It’s ALSO Giveaway Friday – The Nine Cap Giveaway! The first 1,000 fans will receive a replica Nine hat and get a glimpse of the hat the players will don on field next season. Get your tickets here: Friday, June 14th-Juneteenth Celebration game

There has been interest in doing a “stitch-n-pitch” amongst the Yarnies541 crew. Let’s talk about how to coordinate to get seats together. If you are interested in this for a future game please let us know via email, reply to this post, dm us on instagram, or hit us up on discord.

Anyone interested in the Springfield Drifter’s farm team baseball? I am not as familiar with them but would love to know more. What about other local sports? Women’s sports! Let us know what you’re into!

Finally, I am looking for someone to coordinate a movie night for the Yarnies541 with Metro Theater, maybe sometime in the dog days of August when it’s too hot everywhere else. Please reach out to Arminda if you are interested in coordinating this.

Have the BEST week Yarnies!
